From Sydney International Airport:
Shuttle Service to Summer House Backpackers
There are various shuttle bus companies that service the Kings Cross area including Sydney Shuttles and AirBus. These typically cost between $14 – $20; however they usually don’t run after 7 pm. This will take you right to our front door.
Train to Summer House Backpackers
Follow the signs through the departure plaza of the airport to the Train Station. Purchase a train ticket to Kings Cross Train Station (cost $15.90/$16.70 (domestic/international) for adult one way or $11.40/11.80 (domestic/international) for concession one way). Take the Airport and East Hills Train Line on Platform 2 and after 2 minutes, exit the train at Wolli Creek. Make your way to the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra train line (Platform 3) and after 20 minutes you will arrive at Kings Cross Station. From here, take the Darlinghurst Road exit, turn right and walk towards the giant Coca-Cola sign. Turn right onto William Street and Forbes Street is located on the right after 200 m. We are located just in front of you on the right hand side.
Taxi to Summer House Backpackers
We do not recommend this option due to the cost (~$50). If you are desperate, tell the taxi driver to take you to 153 Forbes Street, Woolloomooloo. All Taxis are fitted with GPS devices so they will know how find it. Be aware that sometimes taxi drivers will ask you which way to take to determine whether you are familiar with the city or not. If you say you don’t know, they may take you for a long journey to increase the price. Tell the driver to take “Southern Cross Drive” and you won’t have a problem.
From Central Station:
Train to Summer House Backpackers
Take the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra train line from platform 24 and after 10 minutes you will arrive at Kings Cross Station. From here, take the Darlinghurst Road exit, turn right and walk towards the giant Coca-Cola sign. Turn right onto William Street and Forbes Street is located on the right after 200 m. We are located just in front of you on the right hand side.
Walk to Summer House Backpackers
This is a 3 km walk and should take about 30 minutes. Follow the signs to the Chalmers Street exit. Turn left and walk up Chalmers St, heading south-east. After 400 m, continue onto Elizabeth Street. Slight right on Wentworth Street. After 500 m, turn right onto Oxford Street, and then stay left onto Liverpool Street. After 500 m turn left onto Crown Street. After 500 m turn right onto William Street then left onto Forbes Street. We are located just in front of you on the right hand side.
Near Summer House Backpackers
We have a number of shops, restaurants and bars right at our doorstep while a leisurely stroll will take you to a number of Sydney’s world famous attractions including: The Opera House, Darling Harbour, the Royal Botanical Gardens, The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Hyde Park, Rushcutters Bay and Paddy’s Markets just to name a few. If you don’t feel like walking, we have a bus stop at our doorstep, and we are also strategically located only 300m from Kings Cross Station where a 5 minute train trip will bring you to Bondi.
